This is perfect if your child's school does Colonial Day. A week after Colonial Day, my child had a book report due on Clara Barton. Had to dress up like Clara Barton. We were able to modify this dress by putting lace trim around the neck, and up the " v " in the front of the dress, at the top, 12 old fashioned looking buttons up the middle, a zipper to the back, and a American Red Cross pin over the lace on the neck. Came out perfect, and much faster and cheaper then the alternatives we found. My child is usually a 14+ in dresses or a 16. We bought the child - large, I was afraid it wouldn't fit, but it did. Very pleased. Only con was the back is open with only velcro at the neck, so you will need a shirt, piece of fabric, or zipper.
