The light saber was broken so instead of trying to get an exchange and that potentially being broken as well I just bought it from another site.

we bought this for my son who is having a star wars theme costume birthday party, he was very excited about it. When it arrived the lightsaber was bent (curled) quite a bit, and after we put the batteries in and turned it on it still didn't glow, we looked down the tube of the saber and the light was in fact on, but the bulb is so weak that you just couldn't tell at all not even in a dark room.
just save your money and go to any store that sells toys and get one for the same price, at least then you can check it out for bends, see how well it works and have an easier time returning it if you hate it.
