Trunk or Treating is new to Halloween traditions, but it’s becoming more and more well-known as the years pass. Trunk or Treat events have a handful of benefits that include a safer environment, less walking, extra candy and so much more! It’s a great time for families to interact with others, and for children to experience Halloween multiple times during the fall season. Trunk or Treat also gives people the opportunity to show off a preview of their Halloween scene by decorating their car accordingly. Here at Spirit, we love EVERYTHING Halloween, so we’re going to give you some really cool trunk or treat decorating ideas that will make trunk or treating 2019 the best year yet!

Friendly Trunk or Treat Décor

Trunk or treat events are all about inviting others to celebrate Halloween with you, so decorating your trunk in a friendly way is the most popular option. Decorating with friendly pumpkins is one of our favorite themes for trunk or treat activities. Pumpkins and other fall decorations are very inviting, making it easy for trunk-or-treaters to connect with you. If you want to spook it up just a little bit, you can always mix in some jack-o-lanterns, too!  You can even add some hay and turn your theme into a hayride!

If pumpkins aren’t really your thing, there are so many friendly themes to decorate with. Here are a few of our favorite trunk or treating themes that are easy to make and will have everyone visiting your car!

  • Candy Creations
You can create the perfect candy-themed trunk or treat design by turning your trunk into a candy factory. With bright colors, pinwheels and more, your trunk will have everyone’s eyes wide open!
  • Haunted Hayride
Haunted hayrides are a Halloween must! By creating your own hayride scene, you’ll bring the experience with you on the go! You can never have too many bales of hay!
  • Goofy Ghosts
Not all ghosts are scary! Doing a ghost-themed trunk or treat is simple. All you need is some white sheets and eyes. If you make sure that your decorations are welcoming, you won’t have any problem getting visitors.
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
Everyone love Jack Skellington, Sally, and Zero! Decorate your vehicle with all of your favorite NBC Halloween icons for a spooky good time! Your trunk will look like Halloween Town in the blink of an eye!
  • Cheerful Carnivals/Circus
If you create a carnival or a circus theme, you can add carnival games to your trunk or treat decorations. This is the perfect way to engage all of the cute trunk-or-treaters.
  • Glorious Gardens
Decorate your trunk like a garden and incorporate lots of brightly colored flowers, beautiful butterflies, sunshine, and more! Whether you use real flowers or fake flowers, everyone will feel like they’re walking through a spring garden. If you want to darken it up a bit, turn your garden into a spooky cemetery when dusk falls!
  • Winter Wonderland
Sometimes decorating for a different holiday is what takes the cake! Bring your Christmas decorations with you, and light up the night! Everyone will love looking at your display, and it’ll remind them that Christmas is just around the corner. Better start shopping…
