Mother always warned you to stay away from creepy Uncle Charlie...even if he is a real clown. Mom also said don't take candy from strangers - when did you ever listen to her? You'll wish you listened when you meet Uncle Charlie. He offers candy and entices you to come a bit closer as he moves his head, flashes his eyes and mutters various creepy carnival phrases all designed to entice you to play his special games. Game Halloween with this evil, nasty and altogether diabolical lifesize Uncle Charlie light-up animated prop.

About Me High-end Shopper
I have been able to use Charlie for the last three years now. No problems assembling and works as described. The only negative I would like to see improved upon is having a control to adjust or in this case increase the volume of his voice. The clown suit is really cool and only had a minor problem with his collar staying up. This was easily corrected by using some stronger Velcro tape. Overall I have been very satisfied with Uncle Charlie...

I was not satisfied at all with the product. It was broke when I got it. And the animation doesn't work.
DELICATE BUT SCARY.

Bought Uncle C for 2011 Halloween, he rocked and really freaked adults and kids alike out. He isn't perfect, he could use some newspaper stuffing to fill out his body, his motion sensor is hidden and you have to cut a hole in the shirt/jacket to expose it for proper effect. Because of the moving head you must be very careful how you connect the wires and to keep clothing material out of the moving parts. Had to rewire battery pack this year. BUT, if you're careful and put him together correctly, and pack and unpack him accordingly, he's worth the $. SCARY! Great soundtrack, sensor works. Suggest putting candy in the bucket to draw victims in!
Haunted House Prop
This prop is a decent addition to our haunted house as a scene. He's a bit of a pain to put together, so he takes a little extra time than other props we have purchased. We had a bit of difficulty keeping his neck from exposing his mechanics as he turned, but overall he creates a nice effect and is a great attention pull.

About Me Adventurous
when I received this, I waited to open until it was time to set up for my party, Mistake one... it was missing the screws and clips to put it together, I had to drill my own holes, The shirt did not fit over the frame very well. I had to make my own hole in the shirt so the sensor would work. I had to stuff the body so It looked a little more realistic. The head I loved , great detail and very creepy but as another person commented I wish the head did not move all the time. It would be better if it moved only when talking. For the money I would have sent it back, but I guess thats what I get for procrastinating.
The electronics are poor so is the overall wire frame only lasted for one night.
Aaaaahahhaha, he is sooo creepy!

About Me Haunt Fan
We have a Psycho Carnival themed site at a music festival featuring a lot of clowns, cuz ya know, nothing is creepier than clowns, even nice ones and ours are never nice. Uncle Charlie was the perfect addition to our ensemble, and never failed to get the desired "ewwwww, creepy!" and requests for pictures with him. He is nice and tall, his face is really great. We did find that his parts didn't quite fit together easily and his head/neck assembly required modification to make it work as advertised. We weighted his stand so that wind would not tip him. We were required to use a small flashlight to trigger, but I knew that we would need to in advance, plan for it and no biggie. What I do wish is that the head would not rotate the entire time, but just trigger when the voice and lighted eyes do. But really, for the price, a pretty creepy and effective prop. We are happy with our new nasty clown.

I loved the prop but I also was disappointed in the fact that the wires tangled around the motor the 1st time it was used and no way to fix it. They should offer parts to fix the poor mechanics of this and I would give it a 5 star rating. A lot of money for poor mechanics.

Looks good on the web but a disaster to put together and to keep looking good. Had to stuff a LOT of paper and padding to flesh the body out since it is just a wire metal frame and the cloth just hang off of it POORLY. Eye's worked for 2 nights and by the end of the week the head was not working. Never would have bought this if I knew it was going to be this bad.

Great addition to Creepy Clowns
By MDJ Carnival Corner
from Northern RRV
We have a decent collection of Creepy Clowns used at a Carnival themed site during a rock festival. Uncle Charlie is our third animatronic and IMO the best yet. Nothing creeps people out like clowns (except zombies) and Uncle Charlie does a fine job. Wished that the head didn't move all the time though, would be better if it only moved when he speaks. The motion activation of the sayings/flashing eyes is tricky and I wish there was a better mode to activate him. We ended up using a really bright directed LED to activate. The frame wasn't too hard to assemble although the hardware packet was open in the box and all the little screws were strewn around so we had to hunt for them. The wire frame figures are never shaped right so be prepared to have some foam or batting on hand to stuff him because the angles are really unrealistic and make him look odd, but an easy fix. Even the neck mount frame was way off with his head tilting up towards the ceiling so maybe mine was manufactured at 4:30 on a Friday, who knows. Overall, a really creepy clown and we are excited to use him at our event!!

What a wicked clown! He's great and scarey and I like that clowns frighten him too! The quality could be better. I held my breath that it would work. He needs a little modifying. It's hard to put together and hard to get him to work. I had to lift the sensor up to the light and place it down to activate him.But with a little work so cool! I've wanted him for a year and a half and finally caved. The shipping price is outrageous.

This clown is COOL. His head turns, eyes light up, and he talks. I have had several problems though. The head is a little delicate, so it has broken, though it was only a small nose fracture. Also, the mechanism turning the head broke. I think i can fix it though. Overall, he is a pretty good clown

The first clown received was defective, as was the second clown. I was able to combine parts from both clowns to get it to finally work properly. I was disappointed with the quality and would have returned it; however, my family wanted to keep it.

Uncle Charlie Looks GREAT!
By Halloween PartyGirl
from Coral Springs, Florida
I was so excited when I was putting Uncle Charlie together, but the metal rod which is attached to his motor and is secured onto a horizontal piece of metal for his metal neck rod to then attach to was not long enough, so instead of his head turning in a smooth side-to-side movement, it pulled upward, straining the motor, and then his head would come back down in a hard bounce. Spirit replaced it for me right away, but the new one did the same thing. I ended up having to insert his metal neck rod into only one of the holes on the neck support frame, which fixed the problem. I called Spirit about this issue and the representative told me he was sending an "urgent" message to their corporate office and they would contact me within 2 days. That was a week ago and no one has called me yet. I wonder if anyone else had this mechanical problem with their Uncle Charlie. Other than this, Uncle Charlie looks great, but he would be even better if his mouth would move when he talks.

Wife hates clowns!
from Monrovia CA
I gave Charlie a 4 star, not because he was not scary enough, as we know a lot of people do not like clowns, especially my wife, but because he did not work correctly when I got him.I don't like the put together wire cages and poles.Although it did go together ok, the motor did not operate the head correctly. Jammed every time, so I had to bend the steel rods to get it to not bind up.Another thing I did not like was the head moved all the time. So I made a simple circuit using 4 parts to only move the head when he talked, or in this case, when the eyes lit up as I used that to trigger my circuit. Now it works great!!!I also use a 6V 12 AH battery to run him, so I didn't want the head turning all night and run out the cell. Also plugged in one of my remotes to the socket provided, and can trigger him from anywhere within sight (of scared kids)!People have mentioned the poor light sensor. Yup, not great, so I removed mine and the lump coming from his shirt. Since it will be used at night on the lawn with not much ambient light, the remote works great. You can also rig it up with a step type pad, but then you can usually see those.

There is nothing great about this clown. He comes in pieces and he is made out if wire hanger. Photo display and cost are deceiving. I would not recommend this buy

Uncle Charlie Assembly
from cleveland, ohio
About Me Trendy
This was extremely hard to put together. Holes did not match up with attachments. Had to re-drill holes. Screws supplied stripped or broke off when assembling. Took alot longer to put together then it should have. Once put together it looks really good but for the money I paid, it shouldn't have been that hard.
A Horror Star
By Dr. Z's Carnival
Metal frame, which hopefully will allow for easier and more compact storage. Terrific facial detail and color! Creepy but engaging. Great vocabulary. Sensor seems well placed and more sensitive compared to most. I say him last year and was glad to finally get him. I am building a Zombie Carnival around him this year.
Uncle Charlie is a Hit!
from San Diego, CA
I had a bit Halloween party last year and had different themes for the garage, 2 rooms inside and backyard. Charlie really set off the clown/psychedelic room. I put him in the corner away from heavy traffic, but soon realized he needed a dedicated light, otherwise the all black-light room was too dark to see him. Thankfully had track lighting and just pointed 2 lights towards him, a black light bulb and a strobe bulb....Only down was that I had stuff the frame with plastic grocery bags so it wasn't so obvious he was made of a wire frame. Some people thought he was a real person! Everyone loved taking pictures with him.

I love this prop but hes hard to move in and out doors.Besides that hes great!
Great reviews for Uncle Charlie
About Me Adventurous, Trendy
I put on a Haunted Garage walk thru this season & ordered my Uncle Charlie online. [...]Loved him immediately. He is everything & more. The voice for him fits him so well and he is loud enough to hear over background music. The only thing that was an issue was his sensor which sits in his front jacket area, it is touchy & requires constant light flicker in order for him to activate. I used a mini strobe light & pointed it directly at him and it did the trick. Everyone was amazed with him, as he is so huge and is just so awesome!! He sold out the first time I tried ordering him, I was lucky that they offered more, 2 wk s before Halloween. I see he sold out again. lol Figures. Best buy all season!! Great price, don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed!!
Electronics don't work
from Fresno, CA
I would love this even more if the electronics work. The Spirit store I bought it from won't take refund... very disappointed and likely won't buy from again. There was no way for me to test electronic in store, when I called and told them it didn't work, they said, no refunds and then hung up. As for the scary factor, I love it.
