Stand this hooded life-sized animated Gatekeeper prop in a shadowy corner or on the porch and watch the frightful goings on. The light and sound activated creature holds a lantern which it slowly swings from side to side - is it to menace or entice? Blood red eyes glow from beneath a tattered hood - there is no face - but those demonic eyes seek to penetrate the souls of the foolish few who dare to take a second look. Do you have what it takes to follow the lantern to your destiny?

**CAUTION** Cheap Materials Poorly made

Comments about Spirit Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
Poorly done wire frame welds completely broke after two weeks of infrequent indoor use. Body snapped completely off the base frame. You could make your own and better with a bent coat hanger frame and duct tape!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is my second season setting it up and it no longer operates. It is very cheaply made and the sensor has failed. Accordingly, there are no more spooky sounds coming out of it, the arm just rotates back-and-forth, that's it.
The Frame was cheaply made and the lower clothing material just tore apart.
Leave This One Behind
from Albany, NY
I bought this item at the last minute the day after Halloween. It wasn't what I was looking for, Life Size Gravedigger, but I thought it could be a decent replacement. In the store it appeared to be a very sturdy item. The item was stored in a sealed box until Halloween--last year. Very easy to set up, but also very easy to break. Couldn't put the figure where I wanted it to go. Stood it in the back of the house, where no one could touch it and cause further damage to the broken metal holding the figure together. Ith figure is back in the box and I will either keep it there for sometime or look to sell it at a future garage sale...at a huge loss.
Flimsy and does not work properly
from New York
Very shaky, flimsy, falls over without a weight on the bottom> Motion detector does not work, eyes do not light and it does not make sound
Half price gatekeeper was well worth it

I set this up this year after I bought it half price in store last year. It worked great but wanted to tip over so secure the base with something heavy like a car battery. Was not hard to assemble just take time and patience and went together well. It worked good till I took it down so we will see for next year!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Poorly constructed - beware
from Minneapolis, MN
As noted by others, very, very, very poorly designed and made. Welds were off when assembled, and it leaned the wrong way. When I put it out, within 24 hours the support weld failed and the figure toppled. should have had at a minimum two support posts, because of weight of item - especially with a heavy moving arm on one side. Do not buy.

This product is fun for all who have seen it. I put it together myself and didn't have too much trouble doing it. It is difficult to move once it is assembled however. We do have to use a heavy object to hold it steady or it does fall over easily.I would buy it again.

About Me Adventurous
I loved it. used it outside as part of a display. could not leave it out all month but put it out on Halloween night. Scared kids. Talking and eyes did not go off much due to poor lighting. will try the "Try Me" button this year so we can set it off on command. used tent hook stakes to secure it in the ground. top heavy so can't just put it out. Neighborhood kids love coming by my house.
It is what I expected for under $$$$
By The reaper house
from Palmdale, CA
I bought this for my reaper theme. I love the uniqueness and phrase; too bad it only has one. Everything worked after figuring out most of the directions are lacking some explanations i.e. which direction the head goes on. I was very worried about the stability of the structure for holding any weight. The hip frame needs another section added on to keep it from snapping off support poles; as it swings way too much and too easy. The torso frame is lacking a realistic torso; this one almost looks like a woman reaper with a high chest. The head section needs a way to be secured from wobbling side to side during movement as well. The whole thing needs some weight on body, opposite side of the arm for balance and a heavier metal for this frame for strength. Finally, my last suggestion to make this the best prop ever is to have the arm move only when the sounds and lights are activated versus moving constantly, ehhhhh the noise, it's not being covered up otherwise. This is a great buy as long as you realize you're not purchasing a thousand dollar solid prop machine; it is only a skeleton with a costume on and you may have to do some repairs since the materials used are cheap as well.

About Me Budget Shopper
I should have known when at one Spirit store the eyes didn't work on the display , and another store the arm didn't work. Both happened to me the eyes worked for about a day, then right before Halloween the motor on the arm stripped it's gears. Worst thing I ever bought at Spirit, worth about $30.00, not [$]

This piece looks cool. Assembly isn't bad but it fell apart just before my haunted house started. The weld at the T tore out. Way too much weight at the top. Also it seems to not stay upright. Obviously before it fell apart. Wants to fall to the side with the lantern.
broke very easily
from Halifax, NS
Broke within first hour of use. The metal in the arm bent from the lack of balance and broke. The lantern did not light. It was very 'tippy'.

VEry cheaply made
from Martha's Vineyard, MA
This product is really cheaply made - as soon as I set it up the wire rod holding up the arm snapped near the pivot. Either the lantern is too heavy or the support is too thin. I have a replacement and will try reinforcing it. One of the eyes (red led) was unglued and the motion sensor is problematic. looks great thought, scary voice.

from Hamilton, ON Canada
I put the gatekeeper together and left it at my front door and everyone that came to the door could see it through my window and when they came in expecting a person and found him everyone jumped. It was great.
Unstable and came without screws
from Ventura, CA
I like the prop itself but it was very unstable. It came without screws and pieces broke of the metal frame which hold up the round piece that represents the body. I had to tape it together
For the price, I expected the voice to work consistently. Light in latern stopped working after first day too. Not worth the price I paid, and I got 25% off. Save your money and use it for a more reliable animated prop.
great look but not built very well.
from Mckinney, Tx
Great looking prop. BUT the welding broke at the shoulder the first night I put it together. And now the wiring has come loose. He works when he wants too.
poor quality- i returned

great new affordable decoration
from Las Vegas
This is a great new prop for the price. The arm movement is a bit to fast so make sure you anchor the base well. Take care when attaching and removing the head, as there are lots of wires that can get caught and pulled out of connectors. A multi function switch would be cool so you can operate it continuously, sound or no sound, or off the motion trigger.
Really cool prop!
from Walworth, NY
Like that the prop has two phases to it: 1) The arm holding the lighted lantern moves continually. 2) The sound and eyes are activated by a light sensitive sensor. Going to use on Halloween night on our front porch and will place a ground flood light so that when trick-or-treaters walk up they will activate the Gatekeeper's sound and eyes.
Just a little noisy
from Fullerton, CA
This was a gift for my boyfriend. He loved it, but it was missing 5 of the 7 screws it was supposed to come with. He was able to make it work with some screws he had lying around, but this is the second time we've gotten something of that brand here parts were missing. Aside from that, the dude is pretty cool! Oh, and the motor is kind of noisy.
from Pittsburgh, PA
I put this item in my front yard, and the voice is super-spooky. You have to adjust it just right for the trigger to make the voice go off. The 'hips' of the item needs adjusting, or they fall to the ground. I had to prop it with lots of bricks, because it kept falling over, every time the lantern swung. The lantern needed secured with hot glue, as it kept falling apart. The lantern arm swings all the time, not just when activated. That said, it is a unique and scary item.
