This is exactly what I need for use with my Halloween Home Haunt. The prop needs to be used according to the instructions, though. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a friend with similar needs for his or her home display.

Out of the box, fresh batteries, nothing. Very disappointing.

The device would be better if you can turn the sound off it interferes with other sounds in out haunted house

This device performs exactly as advertised. The drop effect is quick which makes it effective at startling your guests. The wind up is quite slow, but that gives your haunt a bit of an animated, fluid feel which I like. My only complaint is that the motor is too weak to wind up the props I want to hang off of it. When they say up to 1 lb. they mean it. If you have a good prop under that weight though, it's super!
