More of a Bright Purple Spot in the ones I bought

About Me High-end Shopper
I bought some of these(Item# 01185628) a few years ago and found they didn't behave like a Blacklight should as they were dominant Purple. I recently bought 2(#01306489 led black strobe spotlight) They are $5 cheaper and they act like a real Blacklight. I know product descriptions can change, but in the end you will have to test the light before you buy if possible on some fluorescent printing or surface. So this item should be titled purple led spotlight. Purple is fine if you don't want to overly alter color perception.

About Me Midrange Shopper
This light is very dim and does not work well in outdoor settings. The older model was super bright and very good. This one is horrible. Do not buy it!!!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Anybody that gave this higher than a 2 star obviously didn't buy the 2015 model. They look very similar but they definitely are not! The 2015 model was sooo good. This one sucks! It's so dull and dim...it lights up absolutely nothing. I'm taking back the 2 I bought immediately tomorrow. I'm so sad and angry that I failed to buy more of the 2015 model. Aren't things supposed to improve? Ugh
Guest Services Response:We're sorry to hear that you are not in love with this year's black LED strobe spotlight. Our Quality Control team is examining how they can improve this light for next year. Thanks for sending us your feedback!
Garbage! Do not buy! The 2015 model was way better
I went into the store to pick up a couple more spotlights. I had already bought one last year and needed more. At first glance i thought it was the same one. After taking it home and installing i realized it was much cheaper made and no where near as bright as the other one i had bought. Took both new ones back and asked about getting the old style and had item number from old box but was told this was the new replacement. It is junk compared to the 2015 model thats medal and much brighter! Dont buy. Wouldn't even light up a ghost on a tree at 5 ft.
Guest Services Response:Thank you for letting us know how you felt about this year's spotlight. We're sorry to hear that you are not a fan of this year's model. Our Quality Control team will take a look at this year's and last year's LED spotlights to see how they can improve upon this design for the future. Thanks again for your feedback!
NOT A BLACK LIGHT
from Dallas, TX
They should not put the title "Black Light" if it is not going to be a black light. It's a light blueish/white light.

NOT a "black" light!!!!!!!!
NOT A UV BLACKLIHGT!!There isnt enought UV "black" light in this to show whites/flourescents. This is a "purple" light.I have true "black" lights.... so I know the difference. Do NOT buy this if you expect to get the "flourescent" quality of a true UV Black Light
Guest Services Response:As in the description for this item, it is not a UV Blacklight. The intention of this product is to give off a creepy purple hue!

NOT A BLACK LIGHT.
Does not provide "black light effects"....... too much white/purple light. OK for a "slightly colored strobe".... but do NOT expect it to look like a true "black light".
Guest Services Response:As in the description, this is not a UV Blacklight. The intention of this Spotlight is to give off a creepy purple!

About Me Adventurous
I used the product to strobe into the trees while the fog machine gushed out LOTS of fog!I loved how it's an Outdoor light, not just indoor-ONLY!I also loved how there is a strobe option, but was more dim than the regular light option.

I purchased a couple of these to add to the blacklight effect throughout the house for our Halloween costume party. These were very bright and worked out great! They have a strobe feature if you are looking for that but I kept them on steady the whole night. As far as blacklights are concerned, I would definitely recommend going with the bright LED's or the fluorescent bulbs. The incandescent bulbs will not give you the blacklight effect you desire. Learned that the hard way!

Great for Halloween
from Sherman Oaks, Ca
First this is not really a black light its purple but that being said...it has a great range and does a great job of making white items look spooky from far away. I used three of them this year to shine up in trees at ghost we had hanging there. Gave them an eerie glow. They have stood up to a month outside (although its california and it only rained once). The joints are a bit loose so you have to really play with it to make it stay in the position you want. It's a great little light. I only buy them with the coupons they send out though as the actual price seems a bit high to me.

About Me Classic, Conservative
After trying all kinds of black lights and bulbs, this is by far the brightest and best quality. It is well worth the extra money if you want a good quality light that seems like it will last for years to come.

Bought this black-light spotlight to highlight objects in my graveyard display. It's really powerful and makes the tombstones and ghost figures stand out when my music / light-show is paused. Highly recommended.

This is a three-LED UV spotlight with an attachable stake. Sounds clear enough. Some reviewers mention it's just a purple light. They obviously haven't tried it. We use UV paints (purchased from Spirit also... hey, the prices and selection are right, though perhaps they're tuned to work together), and these lights ROCK.In contract, the LED floods they also carry - the bulbs with a bunch of LEDs - don't work nearly as well. Narrow output and not nearly as bright. The difference is massive, more than 5 to 1. (I did a comparison, having five of those Spirit LED units #01074079 on hand.) To the charges of purple light... yes, these also put out a lot of deep blue. And so do fluorescents. Which are generally better UV emitters. But put it behind a sheer black (which you really should be doing anyhow) and the purple vanishes. The real benefit of these LEDs over fluorescents is the quick-on/quick-off. Want a strobe or lighting effect rather than just a constant glowing, you need this. Incandecent black lights generate too much heat by filtering out all the non-UV, and fluorescents take too long to start up. These spotlights, with their broad beams, rock that scene.

Great spotlight. Bright. Good throw. BUT IT'S NOT A BLACK LIGHT. IT'S JUST A PALE PURPLE. DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING TO "GLOW" UNDER IT.
Guest Services Response:This product is not a UV black light. It is meant to give off an eerie, purple hue!

This is just a purple light. Not a black light. Will not illuminate any type of black light responsive items (like webs, etc). Wish Spirit would actually try the product they put on their shelves

About Me Trendy
I was looking for a nice blacklight spotlight for outside & the whole neighborhood can see this! Unlike the cheaper "flood" lights, this one actually works & you only need one of these to highlight your decorations. Very happy with this purchase (so far as I have just purchased this)!

purple is not a blacklight
By Guy who thought he bought a blacklight
from st. louis, MO
Unfortunately Spririt has decided to call PURPLE lights UV/BLACKLIGHTS this year. It's happening with most of their products labeled "Blacklight" and you get purple bulbs. This is perplexing because I have blacklight led flashlights I bought in bulk from china for next to nothing. For almost 30 bucks I expect a blacklight to actually be a blacklight as advertized. I bought this to reveal invisible UV paint and writing for a Halloween party and it simply doesn't work. Because it's NOT a blacklight. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT, especially when the blacklight LED technology is out there. Don't be fooled by other reviewers, blacklights DO NOT go purple. Especially when you just got them out of the box!

Used in front yard with fog machines to spook up the neighborhood.
I am very happy with these lights I bought 2 Blacklight's,1 red and 1 green. I wasn't expecting too much out of them too be honest but wow the light quality was above and beyond what I expected. And the quality of the material is very good also
