This clown is COOL. His head turns, eyes light up, and he talks. I have had several problems though. The head is a little delicate, so it has broken, though it was only a small nose fracture. Also, the mechanism turning the head broke. I think i can fix it though. Overall, he is a pretty good clown

The first clown received was defective, as was the second clown. I was able to combine parts from both clowns to get it to finally work properly. I was disappointed with the quality and would have returned it; however, my family wanted to keep it.

I was so excited when I was putting Uncle Charlie together, but the metal rod which is attached to his motor and is secured onto a horizontal piece of metal for his metal neck rod to then attach to was not long enough, so instead of his head turning in a smooth side-to-side movement, it pulled upward, straining the motor, and then his head would come back down in a hard bounce. Spirit replaced it for me right away, but the new one did the same thing. I ended up having to insert his metal neck rod into only one of the holes on the neck support frame, which fixed the problem. I called Spirit about this issue and the representative told me he was sending an "urgent" message to their corporate office and they would contact me within 2 days. That was a week ago and no one has called me yet. I wonder if anyone else had this mechanical problem with their Uncle Charlie. Other than this, Uncle Charlie looks great, but he would be even better if his mouth would move when he talks.

I gave Charlie a 4 star, not because he was not scary enough, as we know a lot of people do not like clowns, especially my wife, but because he did not work correctly when I got him.
I don't like the put together wire cages and poles.
Although it did go together ok, the motor did not operate the head correctly. Jammed every time, so I had to bend the steel rods to get it to not bind up.
Another thing I did not like was the head moved all the time. So I made a simple circuit using 4 parts to only move the head when he talked, or in this case, when the eyes lit up as I used that to trigger my circuit. Now it works great!!!
I also use a 6V 12 AH battery to run him, so I didn't want the head turning all night and run out the cell. Also plugged in one of my remotes to the socket provided, and can trigger him from anywhere within sight (of scared kids)!
People have mentioned the poor light sensor. Yup, not great, so I removed mine and the lump coming from his shirt. Since it will be used at night on the lawn with not much ambient light, the remote works great. You can also rig it up with a step type pad, but then you can usually see those.

There is nothing great about this clown. He comes in pieces and he is made out if wire hanger. Photo display and cost are deceiving. I would not recommend this buy

This was extremely hard to put together. Holes did not match up with attachments. Had to re-drill holes. Screws supplied stripped or broke off when assembling. Took alot longer to put together then it should have. Once put together it looks really good but for the money I paid, it shouldn't have been that hard.

Metal frame, which hopefully will allow for easier and more compact storage. Terrific facial detail and color! Creepy but engaging. Great vocabulary. Sensor seems well placed and more sensitive compared to most. I say him last year and was glad to finally get him. I am building a Zombie Carnival around him this year.

I had a bit Halloween party last year and had different themes for the garage, 2 rooms inside and backyard. Charlie really set off the clown/psychedelic room. I put him in the corner away from heavy traffic, but soon realized he needed a dedicated light, otherwise the all black-light room was too dark to see him. Thankfully had track lighting and just pointed 2 lights towards him, a black light bulb and a strobe bulb....

Only down was that I had stuff the frame with plastic grocery bags so it wasn't so obvious he was made of a wire frame. Some people thought he was a real person! Everyone loved taking pictures with him.

I put on a Haunted Garage walk thru this season & ordered my Uncle Charlie online. [...]Loved him immediately. He is everything & more. The voice for him fits him so well and he is loud enough to hear over background music. The only thing that was an issue was his sensor which sits in his front jacket area, it is touchy & requires constant light flicker in order for him to activate. I used a mini strobe light & pointed it directly at him and it did the trick. Everyone was amazed with him, as he is so huge and is just so awesome!! He sold out the first time I tried ordering him, I was lucky that they offered more, 2 wk s before Halloween. I see he sold out again. lol Figures. Best buy all season!! Great price, don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed!!

I would love this even more if the electronics work. The Spirit store I bought it from won't take refund... very disappointed and likely won't buy from again. There was no way for me to test electronic in store, when I called and told them it didn't work, they said, no refunds and then hung up. As for the scary factor, I love it.

Great prop, but it can't be in dim light like some other motion activated animatronics we have. Has to have bright light, or a flashlight or something. Took it back to store, and the next one was the same way. But overall it's pretty good.

Really good prop. Instructions are not 100%. There are parts not listed on the list of included parts and they are also not mentioned in the instructions. Mainly the chest area form. Plug in B is also not real clear. Use common sense and you will get it put together, but know the instructions are not totally correct. Wish the costume was a little more robust. I will dress the clown with some old clothes underneath the costume to give it a little more volume. Overall, very scary looking and should be great fun. I got a rotating light to illuminate him by since it will be a part of my overall display in my front yard which includes several life size characters.

This clown scares the hell out of me and great for scaring unsuspecting guests, however when I first purchased uncle charlie it had no sounds and the eyes wouldn't light up. I exchanged him at the local spirit store for a new one, which works great! The only downside is it is very fragile and sort of slinky? We had to stuff paper in the shoes and shirt to fill it out. Overall...nice product for halloween!

When I saw Uncle Charlie in the store I knew we needed to get him for the yearly haunted house I run. He was sold out at first and then they got another one and I snatched him up. He looks great and his sayings are hilarious. We even had to move him over cause he was scaring my family.

Overall the clown face and sound are scary and perfect for scaring the pants off of someone. However, the design is very delicate and we had to cut the shirt up the back as it was too tight to fit around the frame. For the price don't regret the purchase.

This is the newest edition to our halloween family, we went into our local spirit halloween store and saw him displayed in the circus, he scared the heck out of us, and i hate clowns but he was great so we had to get him, he looks so real and my dogs are scared of him when they walk down stairs he is standing at the bottom,uncle charlie is so well PUT together he is gonna scare everyone this year.. i love halloween thanks for carrying this product.. we are going back this weekend to buy more stuff

Looks good, the only bad thing is, it is not very loud.
