I should have known when at one Spirit store the eyes didn't work on the display , and another store the arm didn't work. Both happened to me the eyes worked for about a day, then right before Halloween the motor on the arm stripped it's gears. Worst thing I ever bought at Spirit, worth about $30.00, not [$]

This piece looks cool. Assembly isn't bad but it fell apart just before my haunted house started. The weld at the T tore out. Way too much weight at the top. Also it seems to not stay upright. Obviously before it fell apart. Wants to fall to the side with the lantern.

Broke within first hour of use. The metal in the arm bent from the lack of balance and broke. The lantern did not light. It was very 'tippy'.

Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
This product is really cheaply made - as soon as I set it up the wire rod holding up the arm snapped near the pivot. Either the lantern is too heavy or the support is too thin. I have a replacement and will try reinforcing it. One of the eyes (red led) was unglued and the motion sensor is problematic. looks great thought, scary voice.

I put the gatekeeper together and left it at my front door and everyone that came to the door could see it through my window and when they came in expecting a person and found him everyone jumped. It was great.

Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
I like the prop itself but it was very unstable. It came without screws and pieces broke of the metal frame which hold up the round piece that represents the body. I had to tape it together

Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
For the price, I expected the voice to work consistently. Light in latern stopped working after first day too. Not worth the price I paid, and I got 25% off. Save your money and use it for a more reliable animated prop.

Great looking prop. BUT the welding broke at the shoulder the first night I put it together. And now the wiring has come loose. He works when he wants too.

Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
This is a great new prop for the price. The arm movement is a bit to fast so make sure you anchor the base well. Take care when attaching and removing the head, as there are lots of wires that can get caught and pulled out of connectors. A multi function switch would be cool so you can operate it continuously, sound or no sound, or off the motion trigger.

Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
Like that the prop has two phases to it: 1) The arm holding the lighted lantern moves continually. 2) The sound and eyes are activated by a light sensitive sensor. Going to use on Halloween night on our front porch and will place a ground flood light so that when trick-or-treaters walk up they will activate the Gatekeeper's sound and eyes.

This was a gift for my boyfriend. He loved it, but it was missing 5 of the 7 screws it was supposed to come with. He was able to make it work with some screws he had lying around, but this is the second time we've gotten something of that brand here parts were missing. Aside from that, the dude is pretty cool! Oh, and the motor is kind of noisy.
Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
I put this item in my front yard, and the voice is super-spooky. You have to adjust it just right for the trigger to make the voice go off. The 'hips' of the item needs adjusting, or they fall to the ground. I had to prop it with lots of bricks, because it kept falling over, every time the lantern swung. The lantern needed secured with hot glue, as it kept falling apart. The lantern arm swings all the time, not just when activated. That said, it is a unique and scary item.
Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
The gatekeeper leaned to his left believe. The weld broke on the stand before we even got him put together. I took it to my shop and had the weld fixed. He still leaned.
Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
The lantern light worked initially, but poor construction so it no longer works, even with new batteries. Same issues with voice. Does't talk consistently. Not worth the $$$ - and I recieved $30 off - still not worth the price.
Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
this is a great prop! i love it! the way it talks and swings the lantern it doesnt get any better than that. the only thing is, is that its top heavy, i had to steak him to the ground. no biggie, he awesome.
Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
Was so excited to get home and put this together and it all fell apart, literally. The welded peices were broken so he could not hold his arm. I returned it to the store and the employee told me that the one they had on display had collapsed on it's own. I hate it was such poor craftsmanship, he looked cool.
Comments about Life-sized Gatekeeper Animated Prop:
Overall, we're very happy with the Gatekeeper prop. However, the parts bag that contains 7 screws and a cotter pin was missing. The missing cotter pin appears to be spare because the unit already has two in place and the instructions don't mention it beyond the parts list. The screws are for keeping the metal frame together, so we really need those! We called Spirit Halloween's customer service to obtain the parts and they said they would call back with the resolution and we're still waiting? Alternate plan is to use duct tape or can guess at the screw size, but for the price paid we shouldn't have to.

Great piece. Looks great and very easy setup. Not exactly how sensitive the light sensor is. Will use it when it is very dark to see how little light is needed to set it off. Love it.

Ok folks, here it is. . first you'll have to secure the base.Forget the screws, drill it out and use nuts & bolts making it striaght(without the added weight). Then counterbalance the added weight with a small dumbbell to touch the floor.Add round weights to both sides of base if needed.A red spot light is needed(the light sensor is weak).Fluff or enhance the costume, and enjoy.Good idea, poor design, needs TLC.
