Incomplete costume: missing gloves and cape. I ordered an adult large to be safe. I easily wear a men's meduim. The jacket was actually a youth large. Extremely too small I could not wear. The pants fit fine, even loose. I would not order from this company again. Waste of money.
Before I get to my anecdote: I didn't check "School/Work" under "Best Uses" because of the way it is cut. It obviously depends on how the WEARER is cut, but I've seen stock photos of this particular costume wherein the BOTTOM of the skirt is slightly ABOVE the model's crotch. NOT appropriate for school or work, even a costume party!
My wife and I initially wanted to make our prepubescent son and daughter be KA and HG this year, but costumes in those sizes don't seem to exist (I wonder why). When we began hunting for the Hitgirl costume for her, we found a lot of off-the-shelf bagged costumes that looked like purple schoolgirl uniforms with ill-fitting sweats, and they were all sized for the teen/junior set. There was nothing really sexy like my wife wanted and nothing at all in her size. Except this one, of course. My wife has a tiny waist but thick legs and large thighs, so we knew that only an XL would work and we had to custom order that in. We had a tailor remove the purple waist band from the skirt and use it to make gussets for the jacket (the material is the same) so it fit her like a glove and a new black waistband was made for the skirt out of 3" stretch material based on her measurement. Since the bottom of the skirt is actually 2 pieces, it was easy for the tailor to just make an opening on either side and add a zipper in place of the velcro. The pants were a comfortable, if snug, fit. She just wore a pair of Tommie Copper pants and a black bodysuit with a sheer chest to smooth things out under the jacket/pants/skirt and it all came together perfectly. She only zipped the jacket halfway and turned heads with the sheer, too. The holster straps wouldn't make it around her legs, but adding the elastic blousing straps from my Air Force BDU's made them a perfect fit. The belt was a stretch, but I did say she has a tiny waist and it was a fit. The included mask was kind of chintzy, but once the edges are hidden behind the bangs and the bob of the suggested wig that SH sells, it looks great. SH also sells toy plastic guns that are very authentic looking and fit nicely into the holsters, but they are pretty tight so don't be expecting to draw them and re-holster them too much without fumbling around a lot. I had to do some similar tailoring to a KA costume and its hood that we got at SH as well (and I am man enough to admit wearing a girdle). My wife and I were the toast of our neighborhood and got as much attention as our three children. Bottom line: This is the costume you want if you really mean business, and it will require the fewest modifications if you aren't a teenager.
I bought it in store and it fits great and looks a lot better than the other hit girl costume Spirit has. Its very close to what hit girl's costume looks like in the movie, so everyone knew who i was.
I tired it on at the store and i got the large and im usually a medium but the top fit funny so i purchased large. The leggings on the large fit a bit funny on me but nothing that really concerns me too much. The top is pretty short if u lift your arms it comes up a bit and i plan on wearing a light purple tank underneath because of slip ups. Im also pinning it to the bottoms and belt. The belt was too big until i put the gun holsters on. The gun holsters are pretty good too. Although in the second movie its not gun holsters theyre for knives. Im not sure if all costumes are supposed to come with a mask, the package says so but mine didnt come with one. The cape hooks onto the top and i really enjoyed that. The bottoms are a different material than the top but it really doesnt bother me. Honestly the costume is a lot lighter than what it should be but you can tell from the photo its really light. Its not that bad though because its still purple. I love the movies and made my own costume when the first movie came out and ive been the same age as hit-girl so its going to be really fun being her again. Overall this costume is pretty good but im going to modify it a bit. Her double ended knife thing is sold at the store but is REALLY small almost child sized so im making my own.
I wanted to try this costume on in the store so I ended up checking it out and buying it at a store locally. The jacket is really short - it fits like a crop top and the materia is a shiny polyester not vinyl like it looks. I plan on wearing a t-shirt or tank underneath. I am usually between a medium and a large depending on if it's a "junior" fit (Large) or a "woman" size (Medium). I ended up getting the medium which is sized as an 8-10 which is what I normally wear. It was a little bit tight but I think the large would be too big on me so I ended up purchasing the medium. The belt is a tie on type and so is the mask. The wig is pretty awesome but be careful because strands are already coming out. It's nicely packaged with a hair net. I will need to search for a wig cap and some gloves. Overall, this costume comes with almost everything you need except for boots, gloves and the katana she carries.
