I removed the cloth mesh, and mounted this overhead a Halloween cemetery. The concept is good. The sound effects are not appropriate (spiders don't make those sounds). It needs to make a noise (any noise) just before it drops. It actuates too often (wears itself out). The electronics should be covered on top to protect from rain. The plastic gears are overstressed and break.

This guy is easily activated and drops like a ton of bricks. We have him at a corner near the haunt exit and he gets 'em every time. Great Scream inducer!

I bought this guy well prior to Halloween last year, removed his lace "web", and hung him in front of some scene setters spider webs. Because he is mounted quite high, he was on all the time. The day before Halloween, his string broke. I opened the box and replaced the string with 50 lb fishing line. Had no more problems last year nor all of this year. The repair took about 15 minutes and was VERY easy to do.

What is Halloween without a classic spider attack? Upon first inspection, this critter looks like it will do the job. Large spider drops via a cord from the motor mechanism; it appears to be sound activated.Once it completes it's 3-foot fall, the creature slowly rises back to start position. The main drawback is its slow reset, but unless you're sticking this into a home haunt situation (like I am), that's probably not a problem for most users. The sound card is loud, but very cliche. Typical cheap Halloween screams and thunder stuff. I plan to disconnect the speaker. I also don't like the decorative spider web cloth tube which is attached to the motor box. It drops when the bug does, presumably to hide the support cord. It doesn't look realistic, so I removed it. The cord is black and unless you're displaying this against a white wall, that cord probably won't be noticed. Especially under low light conditions. Overall, a nice product. How is its durability? That remains to be seen. Mine will occupy a surprise place in my haunted house and intended to operate for up to 4 hours a night. Hopefully the craftsmanship is up to the task.
