Bought this last year for Halloween but changed plans and didn't wear it. I remembered I had it when I had a book project for school in which we had to videotape 3 scenes from a book, and ours was set in the 1800s. This dress fit the cause perfectly. I could wear it comfortably over a few hours of filming, and everyone who saw the project thought it turned out great. The only bad this is that the lace at the top is a bit itchy, but it's not too annoying.

I teach in a college extension program (ESL) and I didn't have time to make a costume this year. It seems like almost all women's costumes are extremely revealing and not appropriate for a teacher to wear. Based on reviews I bought this online and I LOVE it. It is very light and comfortable. I don't find the "lace" (tulle) scratchy...maybe a tiny bit, but not that noticeable (I wore a tank underneath). I was so surprised by the variety of fabrics and textures in this one costume...crushed "velvet," lace ribbon, silky polyester (not scratchy), a hoop skirt, and a netting petticoat too. The panel in front is a combination of about seven different patterns and textures...very ornate. I also love the color...if one wanted to make this more of a scary costume, it easily could be paired with ghostly or zombie-like or witchy makeup. It is, after all, a Victorian design. I put that it could be worn for a Renaissance Fair...even though it's entirely the wrong time period, it would work for someone who needs a quick and easy Renaissance costume. Love it! Everyone at work was blown away. The only potential flaw is that unless you dress it up in some way, it isn't very original. By that, I mean that if you are at a party where people went all out to make something from scratch, you might feel a tiny bit guilty. ;)

This is my first costume from Spirit, and it is absolutely gorgeous! It needs to be ironed when you first get it. It's comfy (except for the lace on the chest and in the sleeves; it's a little ichy). It shows NO cleavage (which is great because I am a 38D), and doesn't even need a petticoat under it! I'm super excited about Halloween!!! :D

Great material used. You do need an iron or steam iron to get out the wrinkles. Sash ties in back. Very chique costume with a great renaissance feel to it.

Quality is worthy of a theatrical play even thought it's not theatrical quality - it should be.

I wore this dress to a masquerade ball along with a Marie Antoinette wig. It was perfect, and I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg. Everybody noticed me, again and again. What more could a girl want?

I was attending the Texas Renaissance Festival and this worked great. Everyone thought it was beautiful. I've recommended this website to everyone I talk to. The costume was great. I was a little worried from reading reviews of other costumes about how this one would fit. It was actually a little bit large which allowed for it to flow really well. Although I think the style back then was for them to be really fitted on the top. I wear a 38D and the purchased a Large and had no problems at all. I didn't realize it had a zipper in the back until after I had tried it on the first time. I was able to get it on without using the zipper although that did help.

I really liked this costume. I was orignially looking for something that would be more Colonial, but decided to go with a Victorian dress instead. It works really well, and I plan on using it for many years. I tied a pillow to my waist to use as a bustle, but the dress looks good even with out it. Add a mask and it can be a good masquerade dress.

I bought this at the last minute for Halloween dress up at work. It looked kind of plain on the internet but it was modest for work so I picked it. To spiff it up I purchased a gold crown and a gold scepter and wore some of my Moms' costume jewelry earrings and necklace from the 60's and green contacts. However when I received the costume and ironed it and put all the pieces on it looked so much better than the picture online. The petticoats really made it stand out and the headpiece looked much better than the crown I purchased. I got compliments from everyone at work.People from other floors were coming to my cube to take pictures of me. I went to lunch and almost everyone stopped me to tell me what a beautiful princess I was and they all wanted to know where I purchased my outfit. Then when I went Trick or Treating with my young nephew later that night many many more compliments and the lace did not itch me at all.I had to take the dress off and hang it on the hook to use the bathroom but that was not a problem. I felt like a fancy shmancy beautiful Queen/ Princess for the day and as usual your costumes did me proud. I will continue to order from you. My only complaint is your company has too many sexy costumes. Some of us are Moms or conservative or need something that is appropriate for work. Please get more costumes for thsoe of us who do not want to look sexy!

The only reason that it is uncomfortable is at the top with the lace. Other that that I LOVE it!!! I would wear it all the time if I could.

This was exactly what I was looking for! I was going for a Anne Boleyn look and this comes pretty close to it! Although, the lace at the top of the chest is really itchy, so I recommend wearing a tube top or tank under it.
